Melissa Bliss

Melissa Bliss is an experienced professional in local government and community corrections, currently serving as the Director of Community Corrections for St. Joseph County, Michigan. With over 16 years of experience in local government, she has demonstrated expertise in managing comprehensive corrections programs, coordinating efforts with local advisory boards, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Bliss holds a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University and has gained significant leadership experience through various roles, including Deputy Clerk for St. Joseph County and City Clerk for the City of Three Rivers. In these positions, she was responsible for processing vital records, election administration, and municipal document management.

Appointed as the Director of Community Corrections in January 2022, Bliss has been implementing strategic initiatives aimed at reducing prison commitment rates and fostering rehabilitation programs. She also serves as the Financial Officer for problem-solving courts, contributing to the fiscal oversight of specialty court programs.

In addition to her role in community corrections, Bliss is actively engaged in her community, serving as the Executive Director of the Three Rivers Area Community Foundation and as a member of the Three Rivers School Board, where she continues to advocate for community development and education.
