- At FAN, our case managers provide intensive, one-on-one, substance use-focused case management services. We support folks in addressing their specific needs, achieving goals, improving their quality of life, and increasing self-sufficiency.
- Our team is committed to providing non-coercive, person-centered, trauma-informed, non-judgmental, community-based, and harm reduction-framed services to achieve these goals.
- By doing so, we create a safer community by reducing criminality and recidivism, improving relationships between law enforcement and the public, and reducing the stigma associated with substance use through education and outreach.
FAN understands that the legal system cannot and should not be the sole solution for individuals who use substances. By offering community-based, harm reduction-focused care, our program encourages collaboration between law enforcement, prosecutors, social service providers, and other community stakeholders to address substance use more effectively.
This approach not only alleviates jail overcrowding and reduces associated costs but also enhances public safety.
Jail Diversion Champion:
The Sterling Heights Police Department partnered with FAN and provides officer-led intervention to individuals encountering law enforcement as a result of unmet behavioral health needs. The individuals are referred to FAN for intensive case management, treatment, and a continuum of care. Charges are held in abeyance while the individual completes a treatment plan within approximately 12 months.
