The Otsego County chapter of Face Addiction Now began in early 2020 through the efforts of local residents who wanted to address challenges related to increasing substance-related incidents in the community.
After moving to Gaylord in 2018, Chris and Linda Ulewicz approached members of the Otsego County Drug-Free Coalition to explore the idea of starting a local chapter of Face Addiction Now. Several years earlier, when they learned that their college-aged son was experiencing serious challenges related to substance use, they found connection and guidance through the Macomb FAN Chapter. Their son has since completed his undergraduate degree and is now attending law school.
Wanting to offer hope to others navigating similar situations, the Ulewiczes helped bring FAN to Otsego County, creating a new space for families to feel less isolated and more informed.
In late 2019, a public town hall meeting introduced the concept to the community. A panel shared personal experiences and practical information about substance-related challenges and local resources. The overwhelmingly positive response led to the formation of the Otsego County chapter of FAN.
Our monthly forums focus on community education, resource sharing, and meaningful dialogue around the impact of substance-related issues. These gatherings offer a welcoming environment for individuals and families looking to connect with others and explore local support options. Everyone is welcome to attend and experience the hope and connection that Face Addiction Now provides.
