Adam Shammami, DO

Dr. Shammami attended Wayne State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in radiation therapy technology in 2002. He obtained his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008 and completed his residency training in family medicine at St. John Providence in Southfield in 2011.  Following residency, Dr. Shammami developed an interest in addiction medicine and has practiced in both inpatient residential and outpatient addiction treatment centers. His professional interest includes addiction medicine and academic medicine. Dr. Shammami has an academic appointment at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and is faculty physician at the Beaumont Family Medicine Residency Program in Sterling Heights. In 2018, he was the recipient of substantial grant funding to develop a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Clinic at the Family Medicine Center, where he is collaborating with a multidisciplinary interprofessional team to expand and implement a Substance Use Disorder Clinic and serves as the SUD Clinic Medical Director. A co-leader of several committees at his institution that focus on continued expansion of SUD services within the community, Dr. Shammami enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and traveling in his spare time.
