Kyle first became an assistant prosecutor with Ionia County in 2007 and became the elected prosecutor for the county in 2016. During his career, he has been exposed to the direct and collateral consequences of addiction in a criminal justice setting. He has witnessed addiction being a variable in many of the crimes he prosecutes, even those crimes not directly related to substance use disorder. Kyle has seen families get torn apart by and through substance misuse and addiction, and has worked directly with the specialty courts in Ionia, including the Adult Recovery Court. As a person who has seen--and continues to see--the result of substance use disorder in a criminal forum, he is motivated to partner with Families Against Narcotics in order to stimulate positive change in a person’s life and provide support for those family members who have been impacted.
