DETROIT
Welcome

In 2019, the recovery community of Detroit welcomed our Face Addiction Now chapter after collaboratively leading the state's response to the opioid epidemic, and subsequently discovering how communities outside the inner city were expanding their network of recovery support through the integration of families.

Information

Detroit was number one on the 2018-19 list of Michigan cities with the highest number of drug-related overdose deaths, with fatalities totaling nearly 2,500 people. That's more than the number of people killed by car crashes in the state.

As a result of the collaborative efforts by Detroit’s faith-based leaders, community of recovering people, and the Integrated Health Network in Detroit-Wayne County, FAN Detroit was launched with the vision and intention to continue building communities of recovery within Detroit.

Through FAN, we’re able to educate the community about the increase in substance dependency among all ages and offer resources for access to treatment and recovery support services. At the same time,  we can provide safe spaces in Detroit for our community members to begin their own recovery process from the impact of addiction.

Our goal is to provide healing to our communities by spreading the message of hope in recovery to our families, friends, and allies. We align with FAN’s overall mission to educate, put a face and voice to recovery, and eliminate the stigma of addiction.
